FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 22, 2009

“Recently Built Clean Energy Houses, in more ways than one.”

Clean Energy Connection (CEC) recently opened the doors to its latest creation, Clean Energy Houses [http://cleanenergyhouses.com]. “People have been building new homes and fixing up their existing residences since we left the caves eons ago. Home repairs have taken on a whole new purpose with recent clean energy options for the home” says Kathy Beyer-Conrad, a spokesperson for Clean Energy Connection. “What’s interesting is that it’s not only cost that people factor in when making clean energy home repairs or buying a clean energy house. There is a unique social aspect in home ownership of showing off your clean energy house.”

“‘Clean Energy Houses’ has thousands of examples of what Kathy is talking about,” added Shawn McDonwald, an intern at Clean Energy Connection, the parent entity of Clean Energy Houses. “What’s amazing is that these products are not just being bought by homeowners, but that they are used as part of their everyday lives. I don’t think it’s a question of IF consumers want these ecologically friendly home solutions, it’s just a matter of WHICH technologies are best suited for their household.”

The site offers industry-specific information about houses and home products that are geared around green clean and reusable energy sources. Some of the products reviewed on the site include home solar-power-kits, roof-top wind-turbines, garden and green roofs, cleaner light bulbs, eco-friendlier HVAC, and even floor tiles that make electricity from peoples footsteps. Home energy management systems are also a big topic on the site, as those are currently available and people are in a mad rush to get their energy consumption and costs under control.

Aside from the obvious cost-savings of having an energy efficient home, there is the added benefit of the house’s value increasing. In the recent 2008 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers from the National Association of Realtors, environmentally friendly features were cited as “important” by 90 percent of home buyers. Heating and cooling costs were of primary importance, followed by energy efficient appliances and lighting.

“When consumers understand what’s out there, there is a much better chance that they’ll implement such devices on their houses.” says, Scot Bahkri, Internet Researcher and QA analyst at CEC, “It won’t be long before most homes will generate their own power and use the utilities as a backup.”
